I have returned from my respite break and while I was away M was very well cared for by Anna. We thought she was excellent and really took her job seriously.
Please will you pass on our thanks to the department who organize live-in care. For me it is so important to be able to relax and enjoy my respite break, knowing that M is being well looked after.
We would be very pleased to see Anna on another occasion.

I wanted to attend a college reunion in Portsmouth and couldn’t’ find anyone to provide 24 hour care for Garry that wasn’t going to cost an arm and a leg. So I contacted the ‘care navigator’ through Care Connect. She sent out an email to various contacts to see if they could provide suitable cover at an affordable price.
She received a reply from a company based in Cheltenham – Cleeve Care Group, who also provide a live-in 24 hour care-at-home service. I contact the company and an efficient and friendly lady called Nicki made a home visit, took various details and did an assessment of Garry’s needs. She felt sure she could provide someone who could fulfil all our needs, and who we would feel happy with, living in our 2 bedroom apartment for 2 days.
A lovely Romanian lady came on the Saturday morning and I was able to give her a full briefing as to where everything was, explain Garry’s need, his medications and anything else she needed to know.
I left Garry and Ildico (not a name we were familiar with) mid-afternoon and set off for my weekend away, feeling sure that Garry was in safe hands. When I returned mid-day on Monday everything was organised, calm and Garry was extremely happy to have been left in the competent hands of Ildico. She was very efficient, well organised, good company and hard working. On the Sunday she had taken him for a long walk all around the Marina and explored Portishead whilst pushing Garry in a wheelchair. Apparently, a good deal of conversation took place. It was a much needed break for me and an enjoyable source of new company for Garry. So much so that we have booked a week’s self-catering holiday in June in Torquay and we will be taking Ildico with us, to provide some respite care for me and great company for Garry. We are both looking forward to it.
The cost is not cheap (although a lot cheaper than some other companies quoted me). £108 per 24 hours care, but we felt it was well worth it. Garry has tried a couple of places for respite care stays and had not enjoyed the experience. So, talking to Care Connect had a successful outcome.
I know Aurelia as our 24 hour live in carer for my 90 year old aunt, EJR.
It is such a relief to have Aurelia looking after my aunt at this difficult time when the family has had to take the difficult decision to find a nursing home for EJR. Aurelia maintains such a calm and happy environment for EJR during what must be a frightening time for her as, following a fall and UTI, EJR has gone suddenly from being a frail but capable person to being totally dependent on others to get up, to wash and dress, to move etc. And yet when I visit, EJR is serene and cheerful which must be largely down to the way Aurelia looks after her.
From my viewpoint, Aurelia keeps me suitably informed of all that is happening and always asks if she has any concerns. She is obviously very capable and I feel totally confident that she is looking after EJR’s medical and personal needs in a safe and supportive manner. Aurelia is most anxious to follow correct procedures at all times which I find most reassuring.
I would most certainly recommend Aurelia for future caring duties. As a former further education lecturer, I would also be very supportive of any application she made to further her studies. EJR and the family have indeed been very fortunate in the circumstances!
“I want to say very sincerely how much I appreciated the service that you gave to my wife S. It made her final weeks and days bearable. And made all the difference for me too. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff who came and were so kind, friendly, patient and caring. I shall never forget them.”
“You came into Dad's home with a quiet compassion that showed respect and friendship beyond service, displaying all the qualities of a vocation. You gave my mother the reassurance of loyal support with the comfort of friendship, giving a hug when all was too much.
Most of all you help to fulfil my Mum and Dad's greatest desire: for Dad to die peacefully at home with dignity and exceptional compassionate care.”
With the greatest of thanks ... Mr and Mrs Y
“May I take this opportunity to ask you to thank your team for their wonderful support over these last few months which has helped Dad stay in his own home as long as possible. We could not have managed without them. I would, in particular, like to pay tribute to Zuzana for her exemplary care, kindness and professionalism throughout. I would, without hesitation, recommend your services to anyone who needed similar care. Thank you all so much.”
My very kindest regards to you all LR
“I write to thank you, personally, for all your help which has been quite wonderful. I would also like to thank Mary for she has been quite splendid and I have learnt much from her. My very kindest regards to you. I wish you all well.”
Mrs M from Cheltenham
“I am writing to ask you to pass on the grateful thanks of myself and my family to all your staff who helped us to look after my husband during the last weeks of his life.
It seems wrong to single out individuals but I am thinking especially of Maciej and Katerina. However everyone we met was very caring and professional and we really appreciated all their efforts.
