Next Step Guide

If you have decided that you or a family member is unable to live at home alone, finding out what to do next can be a stressful process. To help the individual feel as comfortable as possible you may have decided that care at home would be the best option, as opposed to moving into a nursing home. At Live In 24 we will provide you with all the information you need upfront, with no hidden costs to worry about so you can make an informed decision about what's best for you. See our next step guide for a detailed explanation of what happens from an initial enquiry through to choosing a carer to live with you at home.

Step 1 - Enquiry

You may have researched many different home care options, and if you are interested in our 24 hour live in care service please feel free to contact us to find out how we can help you with care at home. You can call us on 01242 672022, or request a call back from Jo, fill in the contact form on the Ask a Question page or send us an email and we will be happy to discuss your situation.

Step 2 - Information Pack

Following your call we will send you our information pack including a detailed breakdown of prices. At Live In 24 you are our main concern and therefore we present all our information upfront in a transparent way to help you make an informed decision about your future.

Step 3 - Follow Up

We will then phone you once you have received the pack to answer any further questions you may have. If you are happy to proceed we will make an appointment to visit you at home for an assessment of your needs. You may like to have family present at the assessment to make you feel more comfortable in answering the care questions.

Step 4 - Assessment

The next stage is for a member of the Live In 24 team to come to your home and complete an assessment, free of charge, to discuss the level of care required. During this meeting you and your family can ask any questions you may have about having a carer live in your home.

If you are happy to proceed the staff member will complete a risk assessment of the environment at the home, an assessment of your needs and then produce a personal care plan to suit you. You can also discuss what you would like from a personal carer and if you have any special preferences, for instance you may prefer a younger carer, a female carer or a carer with a language specialism.

Step 5 - Contract

After this meeting the Live In 24 team member will go away and write up everything discussed and then arrange to come back and go through it all with you for you to sign.

Step 6 - Choosing a Carer

From what you specified in your assessment meeting, we at Live In 24 will do everything we can to match a suitable carer for you based on their characteristics and skills. To ensure that you are happy with the chosen carer we will arrange a meeting for the carer to come to your home and the two of you can get to know each other. This is the most important step because we want you to form a successful relationship with your carer and feel confident to ask them for anything.

Step 7 - Home Care Starts

Once you are happy with your allocated carer we can start the care package. For the first day we suggest that you have a family member at home to show the carer around. You can now enjoy living safely in your own home with a personal carer and companion on hand to help you with your day to day chores. Your carer can also accompany you on trips out if you wish, and if they cannot drive we will provide a vehicle with wheelchair access if required. If your care needs change, so to can the care package provided; the important thing to remember is that you are in control and can tailor a care programme to suit your needs.

This process can take as little as two or three days to complete, or a carer can be allocated within 24 hours if it is an emergency.
